Moon Festival
Most people in China (Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau,) look forward to one special holiday to take time off. Some call it Mid-Autumn Festival or Lunar Festival or simply the Moon festival.
In the USA, we simply call it the Moon Cake Festival. That’s how we relate to the Chinese tradition. The moon will be at its brightest.
Our parents “always” gather the family together for Moon Cake dinner. Moon cakes are naturally round (like the moon), which symbolizes the get-together of family. You are to consume your moon cake under the roundest, brightest moon.
For this year – 2018, the date is September 24. Pick one box from a local Chinese grocery store!
