Reagan Presidential LIBRARY and MUSEUM

July 15, 2018. 503.  The  Ronald Reagan Presidential Library Museum is a “must-see” for Los Angeles locals and visitors alike.  The museum is located in the hilltop overlooking Simi Valley and the beautiful Los Angeles.

We arrived at the museum at a little past 10:30 in the morning to find the parking lot full and have to park downhill by the curb.  On this very hot July summer, I would have turned around and find some excuses not to proceed, but I guess I owe it to the best-loved president of all time. President Reagan should be the runaway favorite president for our generation. We are especially thankful to the museum providing for a mini-shuttle bringing visitors from the curb parking to the entrance. It would have been a sweaty hike uphill, considering 90 F temparature.

Papa and Mama Came Earlier

Almost 15 years ago, Papa and Mama with friends visit the museum. I have a sketchy memory of Papa telling stories about the library is.  Now I understand what he is talking about. Papa have always loved stories of leaders, including presidents, generals, warriors, and even dictators. For Reagan — Papa always have kind words. Yes, the kindest words for the best-loved president.

ALL ABOUT PRESIDENT REAGAN

We spend about 3 hours visiting the exhibitions that includes the Air Force One, the Marine One, the Oval Office, Rose Garden.  There was also a room dedicated to the Berlin Wall. At the ground floor you see the Presidential Cadillac Limo, the Secret Service suburban, and wall with Secret Service exhibits. There was also a presidential podium complete with teleprompter and cheering crowd where Matthew and John tried out their inaugural speeches.

GENGHIS KHAN EXHIBIT

We also visited the Genghis Khan exhibition. A refreshing history of the Mongolian and Chinese empire and culture from 1100 AD.  We had a chance to listen to an authentic Mongolian 2-string “fiddle” player playing to the tune of Ave Maria. 🙂 We must have spent more than 2 hours circling around the exhibits.

WELL WORTH

The drive from Arcadia to Simi Valley and back takes about 3 hours total, plus another 6 hours spent in the Museum. It was well worth the time and money spent. We owe it to our generation, and the next generations to keep the memories of a Great President in the hearts and minds of our children. Thank you Mr President. We salute!
