Where Were You on 911, 20 years ago?

If you were a baby boomer generation, you would have known or heard of JFK assasination, the Vietnam war, the Apollo 11 Neil Armstrong moon landing, the Sihanouk Coup, or the elections of Marcos in 1965. I thank Papa for being our early newscaster. He knows it all and is our main source of current events.

My Favorite Newscaster

For the Gen Z (those born around 2000-2012), you would have studied 911 in school.

On September 11, 2001, I remembered being up and early at 5 am and watching the news. I am usually up watching the news early mornings.

That early morning news changed the world. On the set was the CNN Television Anchor, I later learned to be Carol Lin, who was the very first to report about the World Trade Center “accident.” I started to frantically switch channel, and saw on one channel the reporter showing the burning tower and reporting about the “accident” for a quick second another plane appearing from nowhere hitting the second tower! It was horrifying. I was shocked as the reporter too look dazed, and I am sure millions of viewers also were shocked with that scene.

A few minutes into this shocking event, I got a call from Wilma, who was also up and watching the news. With my own experiences with several “life and death” in the Philippines, the 911 attack was something way beyond my understanding. “How can this be happening in the USA?”

A few minutes later, I received a call from Papa or Mama telling me about the 911 attack. (I seem have a sense of remembering that it was around the week where Mama slid and fall at the Palm bathroom early in the morning while walking towards the bathroom, she tripped over a small rag in the floor. Mama have broken teeth and bruises.
