The Grass is Greener on the Other Side

09/03/18, Palm Garden.

datu503wix. This is something that most people – young and old are very familiar with. I would courteously call this “jealousy”. Yes. When we see someone with a new car? We asked, “How can he/she afford that?” Or perhaps, your classmate have the latest Iphone, while you struggle with your old Android phone. How about wishing you were at Costco instead of Sam’s even when the latter is 10 miles nearer. Are we just hard to please, or simply never satisfied.

I wrote this song for myself and my family. Many times, I still get tempted to look at the other side of the fence, “Why is the neighbor’s gardener so good with keeping the garden nice and clean?”. Or 113 looking at wanting to go to the farther Uniglo (40 miles away), when the local Uniglo is just 2 miles from home. Or perhaps, Matt-Matt wanting to use a new backpack even when the older backpack is still well and good. For John who wanted to go McDo when we were already at the In N’ Out driveway ?

Here you go…

My neighbor’s got a Beverly mansion
A pretty wife in Kardashian’s fashion
The daughter playing her new i-phone
I got no number I call my own.

The grass is greener on the other side
This yard of mine, I tried to hide
Why do I fear like missing out
I feel so anxious and full of doubt.

My neighbor’s got a new sporty Benz
Clinking glasses with her party friends
Is Ronald’s beef better than a Jack
I got no money, got no six pack!

The grass is greener on the other side
This yard of mine, I will not hide
Sam’s or Costco, should we compare
If the price is right, what do I care.

A Beverly mansion, or a sporty Benz
Nothing green on that side of the fence
A boxing match, hear them fight
Such terrible life, come day or night.

So I straighten up my dearest life
Happy together with my beautiful wife
Wake me up and bring me life
Toss the dumb and foolish strife.

The grass ain’t greener on the other side
A quiet life, we live with pride
Bigger and better, I don’t desire
Faster or stronger we don’t require.

The grass ain’t greener on the other side
A simple life, enjoy with pride
The grass is greenest when you water
Twice a week, I’ll remember.

The grass is never greener on the other side
A simple life, is much alright
So we stopped looking over the fence
Not always easy, but it makes sense.
